Overall, this is how the audio will be routed:
Select OBS in the menu bar → Preferences → Audio. You will see the window below.
Ensure that all "Global Audio Devices" are disabled.
Set the "Monitoring Device" under "Advanced" to your desired monitor for the Media Player audio playback.
If you were using the "Global Audio Devices" to bring your microphone in, you'll need to add an "Audio Input Capture" to the scene with your camera feed. Select the scene with your camera input and select the "+" under "Sources" and add the "Audio Input Capture".
Select your intended microphone from the drop down. You should now be able to see levels bouncing under "Audio Input Capture" in the "Audio Mixer".
Select the cog wheel next to the device in the "Audio Mixer" and select "Advanced Audio Properties". Under "Audio Monitoring" ensure that "Monitor Off" is selected.
Now we will add the Media Playback. Create a second scene and and select the "+" and select "Media Source". Create a new source and then select browse for the file that you will be playing back. Match the settings below.
The media source should now show up in the "Audio Mixer". Go again to the "Advanced Audio Properties" via the cog wheel and under "Audio Monitoring" select "Monitor and Output". This will allow you to both hear the playback locally and send it to Zoom.
Now select "View" → "Docks" → "Audio Monitor". The monitor window will pop up and display a meter with showing what the audio from the current scene.
Select the cog wheel "Outputs" → "Track 1" → "VB-Cable".
When ready to send to Zoom, start the Virtual Camera in OBS. The option should appear in the lower right.
